Modern AR-15 training features a heavy emphasis on manipulation of the safety lever, especially for competition shooting or tactical training purposes. The safety will be constantly engaged and dis-engaged when moving from target to target, and it should be as natural a process as any other handling of the firearm.
The Radian Weapons Talon Ambidextrous Safety Selector is a great upgrade to your stock safety lever. It installs easily (the included instructions are very clear) and has a very precise fit. Operation is smooth, with a very positive transition. It provides great feedback which will reduce your hesitation and uncertainty in use.
Another cool feature is the ability to switch between a 45-degree and 90-degree throw. The 90-degree throw is standard and well-ingrained in many of us who shoot stock rifles which operate this way. The 45-degree throw is much shorter and faster, good for use in high-speed shooting, but can take some getting used to. Either way, it comes down to personal preference, but the included kit allows you to decide what works best for you. Additionally, the safety lever is ambidextrous, a welcome option for left-handed shooters (or left-handed manipulation by right-handed shooters).
Fit and finish are good, and the colors are nice and clear and complement color schemes of many common rifles. The center shaft is made of hardened steel with a nice nitride finish, so you can expect it to hold up to lots of use without scratching or rusting.
